CHILSONG MARTIAL ARTS

Traditional Korean Martial Arts in the East of England
5th dan Hanmudo, 3rd dan Taekwondo

Nikki started martial arts at age 23 when she decided to get fit again after having her 1st child, Abi. She was teaching aerobics and joined a Taekwondo class in the same fitness centre. Nikki also attended a class once a week with Bob Banham and was awarded 1st dan by Master Richard Cox in 1983. Nikki and Bob married in 1989 and Nikki kept training until she was 7 months pregnant with their first son, Luke. After a short rest, she returned to training and received her 2nd dan in 1989 and gave birth to 2nd son Jos in 1991.

Then in 1992, when Bob and Henry Chaplin went to America to meet Dojunim for the first time and subsequently brought Hanmudo back to Europe, Nikki started practicing the new art and says "I fell in love with the beauty of it. It had everything I loved about Taekwondo and so much more."

She was graded to 1st dan Hanmudo in 1994 , 2nd dan at the Headquarters School in 1996  and 3rd dan at European Headquarters in Uden in 1999 . She was also awarded 3rd dan Taekwondo by Master John Turner in 1998 .

Nikki is Chief Instructor at Chilsong and teaches Hanmudo and self defence in several local schools.

She was awarded 4th dan Hanmudo at the June seminar in Norwich in 2003 and 5th dan in 2007.
